13 Campaign
The 13 Campaign is the brand name and outreach initiative to mobilise resources for AWDF’s HIV/AIDS Fund. In November 2005, the AWDF with the support of the Nelson Mandela Foundation launched an HIV/AIDS Fund in Accra, Ghana in order to increase the amount of resources available to women’s groups in Africa working on HIV/AIDS. The 13 Campaign was conceptualised by a guest at the launch, Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro, who was then the Executive Secretary of the World YWCA, and is currently Director of the Population Programme, David and Lucille Packard Foundation.
